Born in Berlin, Wisconsin, on May 10, 1953, Fr. Mike Resop was the seventh child of Doris and Joseph Resop and attended St. Michael Catholic Grade School. He attended Holy Name Seminary during his high school years and Edgewood College for two years. He then went to St. John’s University, Collegeville, Minnesota for the next two years, receiving a degree in Education. He continued at St. John's in the School of Divinity for four years and was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Madison on June 1st, 1979.
His first assignment was at St. James in Madison as a Deacon. He then became Associate Pastor of St. Peter Catholic Church in Madison from 1979 to 1983 and later of St. Dennis Parish and School in Madison from 1983 to 1995. It was then that he began at St. Luke in Plain, St. Patrick in Loreto and St. John the Evangelist in Spring Green as Pastor of their parishes and schools until 2016.
Fr. Mike has worked on the Priest Personnel Board, Priest Pastoral Council and has been involved in the Youth Ministry Program in the Diocese. In his free time, he enjoys riding a bike, reading, working outside on the landscape, and listening to music.
